The Canalside Heritage Centre at Light Night 2018

Canal Basin, Nottingham City Centre

Light Night Website

Posted 27th Feb

Visions of the cut, Canalside funky fish, floating origami boats, light installation & poetry is just a few of the fabulous things that we were involved with at this year’s Light Night celebrations. We partnered with some great organisations including Canal and River Trust, Nottingham City Narrowboat Project, Nottingham City Council and Carrington Street Project, and invited the public to the explore the heritage of our local waterways through storytelling, installations and projections. This combined effort saw us light up the canal basin and attracted over 1,500 visitors. The CHC team helped to deliver family activities throughout the night and hand out promotional postcards of photographic depictions of the Nottingham and Beeston Canal, which were produced by the current students of the MA Museum and Heritage Development course at Nottingham Trent University. If you managed to get your hands on one of these postcards, don't forget to bring it along to your visit at the Canalside Heritage Centre to receive 10% off in the tea room. We were delighted to be involved and we thank all of you who came to see us on the night.
