For two weeks in May we hosted the fantastic Canalside Visions: Beijing to Beeston and back again photography exhibition. This was the culmination of much hard work by Nottingham Trent University students and students at Communication University of China in Beijing. The students worked in collaboration with our Operations Manager, Nicola, to curate the exhibition which focussed on the cultural landscapes of the Beeston and Nottingham Canal and the Grand Canal in Beijing.
Photographs looked at the two canals and the people, wildlife and activities which surround them. This process found many experiential similarities between the two landscapes, despite them being separated by thousands of miles.
The students developed key skills in exhibition curation and the exhibition proved very popular with visitors to the Heritage Centre. A new group of students will be curating another exhibition in Autumn this year and we hope this partnership continues for many years. More information on the exhibition can be found on the Nottingham Trent University website.
