The Canalside Heritage Centre opened at the end of June 2017, and is doing well, do you have the skills and enthusiasm to take things to the next level and beyond?

The former Weir Cottages at Beeston Lock have been given a new lease of life as a heritage centre that will attract, inform and educate people about the heritage of this set of buildings, the canal they served and the beauty of the surrounding region. 

These jobs are both exciting opportunities to be part of a passionate and enthusiastic team of staff and volunteers, and to use your skills to drive things forwards. The Canalside Heritage Centre is keen to hear from you if you are a people person, with a flair for business, good at multi-tasking and taking initiative as well as the experience and skills outlined in the role profiles.

Sales Supervisor

A part time contract of approx 14 hours a week at £7.50 an hour (six month contract subject to funding) 

We are now looking for dynamic, sales focused, and people orientated person to develop our retail, admission ticket and membership sales.

The post is responsible for the development of sales in retail, admissions and memberships. Developing the product range, leading and enthusing a team of volunteers, finding new opportunities to support the heritage centre and promoting good merchandising. This role is a short term position dependent on funding with potential for long term extension, located at the Canalside Heritage Centre and reporting to the Visitor Operations Manager.

The successful candidate will have relevant experience, in face to face sales, setting and meeting targets, retail including sourcing products and merchandising and leading volunteers, and will take initiative and pride in their work.

Visitor Operations Manager - 

A full time contract, for maternity cover at £30,000 pa.

A senior strategic post which we would like to appoint end of march 2018. The person will lead the whole operational team/ volunteer support and be responsible for the overall management and business development of the centre. The post will report direct to the Trustees and be responsible for the overall day to day running of the heritage centre, ensuring a high quality visitor experience, marketing and developing the business and commercial aspects of the operation including the catering and retailing. It is envisaged that the post holder will be a visionary leader and manager who will, in partnership with a dedicated staff and Trustee Board, lead the Canalside Heritage Centre to fulfil its ambitions and deliver the heritage lottery funded strategy. After a successful year being open, this role will develop the centre further, taking it to a new level: improving the visitor experience, and ensuring that the centre becomes an integral part of the local community. The post holder will provide strategic and operational leadership and direction across the organisation.
